TheoTrade co-founder Don Kaufman appeared on “All About Bitcoin” yesterday for the 12th time this year. CoinDesk TV calls on Don for expert insight into regulation, trading activity, and prospects for crypto. Don appeared on yesterday’s show with Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Summer K. Mersinger, to discuss regulation in light of BlockFi and FTX bankruptcies and the biggest weekly outflows in crypto funds in three months.
“The regulators are coming,” said Don, and that’s good news for institutional and retail traders who need to see a stable, regulated crypto market before having the confidence to jump in.
“I’m a trader,” said Don. “You can’t have market maker on the opposing side of your trades and an exchange that also has custody of your assets.”
He added: “Those involved in DeFi will play regulatory arbitrage possibly for years to come. Something like FINA for crypto needs to be established. The technology is beyond these regulators. Institutions already know that. The retail customer needs to be informed.”
