Struggling to Sustain — Friday Test Ahead
by Tony Rago

We’re heading into Friday with the same theme — rallies just can’t stick. Price continues to fade strength, and now the focus shifts toward a potential 6600 test on ES, with yesterday’s low lining up as our overnight floor. That level matters because it’s where buyers last attempted to stabilize, and if it gives way, it can open the door for continuation lower. At the same time, we’re extended enough intraday that chasing downside here becomes tricky — this is what we mean by “shorting in the hole,” pressing weakness after the move has already unfolded rather than positioning into resistance where risk is cleaner.

The tape feels heavy, no doubt, but it’s also the kind of environment where a single headline can spark a squeeze and catch late shorts leaning the wrong way. So yes, the strategy remains: sell rallies — but do it with structure, not emotion. Blind fading large moves in either direction is where traders get chopped up. If we can reclaim the weekly opens, that’s where things get interesting and a broader bounce can start to take shape. Patience and level-to-level execution wins here — let the market come to you and finish the week with discipline 💪
