June 17, 2017You really touch on so many good topics, Don. And independently I see many of these same things and often doubt my sanity. Yeah, Fed raises rates, bonds sky. Huh? CAT, in light of a stronger dollar and generally falling sales. Sky!
I will add one side observation. It's my belief that at least some extent, the S&P and many of the stocks in it are undergoing "price envy" with the $1K/sh NASDAQs. And they are manifesting it with the enigmatic rise in CAT and BA and PM. Shouldn't PM fall on a Fed hike? What about MO? Shouldn't the utilities fall? Shouldn't CAT? BA? NOC, LMT, still in the Trump trade? These more expensive DJIA and SP100 stocks that are not in a goofy phase like IBM are in my view acting as beneficiaries to the sell-the-NAS buy-the-DJIA phenomenon you point out.
