What Is the Trinity Alignment?

The signal before the story

Most traders find out about a big move the same way: a headline, a news alert, or a ticker that’s already up 20% by the time they look. By then, the institutions that drove the move are already in.

Gianni Di Poce, TheoTrade’s sector rotation specialist, built his stock trading approach to flip that timeline. Instead of reacting to news, he looks for the moment institutional money starts lining up behind a stock across three timeframes at once. He calls it the Trinity Alignment.

This post breaks down what the Trinity Alignment is, why it takes all three layers, and how Gianni trades it inside Trinity Trade.

The three layers: tide, wave, and ripple

Gianni tracks institutional trend on three timeframes. He borrows the language of the ocean because each layer moves at a different speed, and the biggest moves happen when all three push the same way.

Layer Timeframe What it tells you
Tide Long-term The big direction institutional money is moving in a stock
Wave Mid-term Whether that direction is building momentum right now
Ripple Short-term Whether the timing is right to enter today

The tide is the slowest layer. It shows where large money has been positioning over months, not days. A stock with a rising tide has steady institutional support underneath it.

The wave sits in the middle. It shows whether that long-term support is picking up speed. A strong tide with a flat wave can drift sideways for weeks.

The ripple is the fastest layer. It shows short-term strength and is what tells Gianni the window to act is open.

Why one layer isn’t enough

Gianni sums it up in three lines: one layer isn’t enough, two are better, and three is ignition.

Each layer on its own can mislead you. A short-term pop without a long-term tide behind it often fades fast. A strong long-term trend without short-term strength can mean waiting months for anything to happen. And a mid-term wave against the tide is often just a bounce inside a bigger move the other way.

When the tide, wave, and ripple all point the same direction on the same stock, the noise drops out. That alignment is the setup Gianni looks for before strength shows up in the headlines.

How the Trinity Terminal finds alignments

Checking three timeframes on every stock by hand isn’t realistic, so Gianni built a tool to do it: the Trinity Terminal.

The Terminal scans the market for stocks where the tide, wave, and ripple are starting to sync up. It flags alignments while they’re still forming, not after the move is over.

Each setup gets a Trinity Score, a weighted ranking of how strong the alignment is. Higher scores rise to the top, so traders know which names to focus on first instead of sorting through hundreds of charts. Trinity Trade members get charter access to the Terminal as part of their membership.

How Gianni trades an alignment

Finding an alignment is only half the job. Gianni’s process for trading one follows the same steps every time:

  1. Hunt alignment, not noise. The Terminal flags stocks where all three layers are syncing.
  2. Rank the opportunities. The Trinity Score shows which setups deserve attention first.
  3. Execute with a plan. Each trade has a defined entry, stop, targets, and position size before it’s placed.
  4. Choose stock or options. Every alert comes with both a stock setup and an options plan with the strike, expiration, and risk spelled out.
  5. Review and repeat. Live coaching and post-trade debriefs keep the process disciplined.

Gianni sizes small on a first entry and adds only when strength confirms. If the tide, wave, or ripple shifts, he adjusts exposure instead of holding on and hoping.
